The Leasing Agent Resume
Working as a leasing agent is no different from working as a salesman. Part of the responsibilities of a leasing agent is to ensure maximum occupancy for property and realty assets that require tenant and are used for profit generation by the company that owns them. As a leasing agent, you are in charge of generating clients and making sure that they are sound enough to make the payments and extend their lease for long period of time. A thorough understanding of the principles governing marketing and advertising is required- and experience in sales is definitely an advantage. Of course it wouldn’t hurt your chances if you had a professionally written resume to compliment your qualifications when applying for this kind of job.
Your resume should compliment the core skills necessary to become a successful leasing agent. As a leasing agent you need to be aggressive, a go getter, someone who knows how to work a sale and get the most profitable deal out of any situation in the least amount of time involved. This is how you should plan your resume- concise yet a sales pitch of your skills, professional qualifications and certifications that would make you more than qualified to run the leasing department of a corporation.
Create a resume that details your “features and benefits”. Highlight information that will provide insight to your outstanding skills in sales and create a section about your career accomplishments relative to the position. Mentions of being a top closer when it comes to sales, being a valued employee for x number of months and closing an x amount of money for your previous sales / leasing job will allow employers and recruiters to gauge your skill and knowledge in leasing. Also list all your training, certifications and academic preparation such as college seminars that are pertinent to the job.
